Security Software Revenue Up 18.6%

Worldwide, the key drivers for fueling the growth of IT security spending are data security and privacy and the need to protect IT infrastructure from the ever-increasing sophisticated and targeted attacks. For North American and Western European Organizations, compliance was one of the major drivers.
“The segments in the appliance-based products that recorded the fastest growth in 2008 were, security information and event management (SIEM), e-mail security boundary, and secure web gateway appliance with 50 per cent, 37.7 per cent and 29.9 per cent increases respectively.”
Among those, Gartner’s study also showed that the appliance based market for email security products saw growth in 2008.
